Gary Moon - Vocals
Gary Moon is an American rock singer/bassist best known for performing with Three Dog Night (1988–1989), Night Ranger (1991–96), and The Hit Men All-Stars (2011–15). Today Gary delivers stunning vocals for The Gary Moon Band. Gary performs songs from his solo catalog; classic Night Ranger hits and rare deep tracks along with the quintessential Three Dog Night tunes he sang on tour.
Before joining Night Ranger, Gary fronted The Pack. This group featured Steve Isham (Autograph), Matt Sorum (Guns N' Roses), Curly Smith (Boston) and Pete Comita (Cheap Trick). The band recorded an album of demos for Atlantic Records, which Moon later finished and remastered as his first solo release titled “Still Moon.”
While writing and performing with The Pack, Gary was invited to join the legendary Three Dog Night. Gary passed his audition with a standout vocal performance of the classic “One (is the Loneliest Number)”, and went on to sing and play bass in over 200 shows worldwide with this classic act.
Quickly following Three Dog Night, Gary was recruited to be the singer/bassist of the platinum- selling 80’s band Night Ranger, replacing then current singer Jack Blades (who left to form Damn Yankees in 1989). Touring with the band well into the 90’s, Gary’s harder edge was a welcome contrast to the ballad stereotype that haunted the band after their hit song “Sister Christian” hit the Top 5. 1995’s “Feeding off the Mojo” album would highlight this shift delivering a true rock album to Night Ranger’s dependable fan base, while retaining the dense vocal harmonies and the guitar wizardry of Brad Gillis so critical to their signature sound. Produced by David Prater (Dream Theater, Firehouse), the album’s vocal duties were split equally between Gary and drummer/singer Kelly Keagy. Longtime DC Comics artist Shawn McManus got involved in the project when he used Gary as the inspiration for the “Night Ranger” character that adorns the album’s cover – aptly called “Moon Ranger.”
Moon would later join the Hitmen All-Stars, where he toured the world with former members of Journey, Boston, Aerosmith and others, celebrating the music that made these bands famous.
Spring of 2018, Gary introduced with resounding success The Gary Moon Band at the prestigious Melodic Rock Festival in Chicago. Featuring former members of The Babys, Joe Lynn Turner, and Evolution Eden. The band performs with an intensity and authenticity that this classic music and its devoted fan base deserve.
